Creative Arts Guild Art
Show and Reception
by
Kevin Ivery
In May of 2009, the
Creative Arts Guild put on a three-week show displaying and selling a
representative sampling of paintings by local artists Andy Morgan and
Jerry Morrison. The paintings
included traditional medium pieces (chalks, watercolors, acrylics, etc.),
as well as paintings completed in the more non-traditional “computer
generated” medium (paintings completed manually via the computer Paint
Program). Both artists sold
several pieces during the show, and both made several hundred dollars each
in total sales. A reception
was held for the two artists on May 7, 2009, where local musician, Tony
Burress, played the piano as a sizable crowd snacked on wine, punch,
cheese, and crackers, while enjoying the artwork display. Mr. Burress
collected a sizable amount of money in his “tip jar”, and Mr. Morgan
and Mr. Morrison were lauded for their unique and very appealing artwork.

Editor’s note: Past
issues of this newsletter have introduced you to many talented individuals
receiving services and supports from Cross Plains. You have met artists,
advocates, entrepreneurs, entertainment critics, storytelling sages, and
musicians. Each day provides
us with knowledge of different talent from different individuals, and I
enjoy showcasing these talents for you.
Cross Plains encourages and support their creativity, but their
talent comes from the heart.
