Our History...

In 1957, a group of concerned citizens of Whitfield County recognized the need for programs and services for children with developmental delays and mental challenges, Cheerhaven evolved from this concern, later expanding to serve adults with developmental disabilities.

Cheerhaven services focused on supporting and serving adults with developmental disabilities in the Northwest Georgia area.  Because all efforts and success relied on partnering with businesses, families, neighbors and other community agencies, Cheerhaven became Cross Plains Community Partners .  

Now...

Cross Plains continues to provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in Northwest Georgia.  Over time services and supports have become imbedded in individual choice, self-determination, and human rights. Central to our services is the belief that all people should be afforded an opportunity to pursue quality of life, and be a participating member of their community.  Continued learning regarding what is important to and for each person is essential in providing these supports.  Establishing person centered supports assist people to build self-directed lives that are centered and supported in their own community. 

As an organization we value the importance of partnering with other community organizations.  These partnerships help to establish Cross Plains role in community leadership, and communicate our commitment to enhancing quality of life for all people.
